DNS is one of the most important aspects of a successful domain. After all, without it, no one could find your website on the internet. Considering the importance of DNS, you want to make absolutely sure your DNS records are accurate—and Constellix’s DNS Lookup Tool is just what the DNS doctor ordered!
Domains are found during the DNS Lookup process, which starts when a user types a website address into their browser. Once this happens, the query journey begins. A recursive resolver either answers the query with the information it has stored in its cache, or it contacts the root server, which in turn, directs the resolver to the Top-level domain (TDL) server. The TDL then sends the resolver to the authoritative nameserver for the domain, which provides the final answer to the query.
After configuring DNS for a domain, it is best practice to check that your domain is pointed to the correct IP address and that your records are reflecting accurate information. One way to achieve this is by performing a DNS Lookup based on specific query parameters.
Constellix’s DNS Lookup Tool generates DNS record information for domains and is queried against user-provided authoritative nameservers. This resource allows you to perform lookups in 32 different locations around the world. Users can also filter results by resolver, record type, and domain name.
AAAA Record
NS (Nameserver) Record
SOA (Start of Authority) Record
SRV (Service Record) Record
Another convenient feature of Constellix’s DNS Lookup Tool is the ability to share the results of lookups. With this feature, you can copy the URL of each record report with a click of a button and share it with your team. This makes verifying and troubleshooting DNS information quick and easy, as any changes made to your configurations are shown instantly in Constellix’s Lookup Tool.
If you haven’t already, you should make checking your DNS records a habit. That way, you won’t be blindsided by any misconfiguration errors and can ensure your DNS is performing at optimal levels. With the Constellix DNS Lookup Tool, you have a quick, easy way to see your current records and to verify any changes are in effect.
