Account Transfer

initiate transfer

Transfer domains between Constellix accounts including existing record configurations. Account specific configurations such as Vanity DNS, Templates, custom SOA records, Folders, ACLs and DNS Failover and Monitoring settings will not transfer with the domain. Any of these enabled features will be removed from the domain at the time it is transferred. Global Traffic Director services will only transfer with the domain if Global Traffic Director services are present on the destination account.
There is no downtime for the domain(s) during the transfer.

ANAME Records

An ANAME record is like a CNAME record, but at the root level. ANAME records are most commonly used for CDN (Content Delivery Network) implementations at the root of a domain. Learn more

API

Constellix's API is available to perform core functions of the Constellix web interface programmatically. You can access our API documentation here .

Atomic Changes

The feature that guarantees zero downtime when changing record types.
One of the top user-requested features has been the ability to make Atomic Changes to DNS configurations. Users that have hundreds of thousands of visitors per minute cannot afford a second of downtime. You cannot afford to have a single record unavailable while configuring record type changes. Rather than deleting records (which is instant and permanent) and risk site availability, you can remove records and add new ones simultaneously.

Atomic changes allow you to stage all of your record changes and then execute them all at once.
For example: If you need to change a record from ANAME to CNAME, Atomic Changes allow you to easily switch your record without any downtime.

CAA Records

Bulk Serach Instruction

Constellix now supports CAA (Certificate Authority Authorization) records, which can improve the security of domains during the certification process. This record type allows the domain name holder to specify one of or more CAs (Certificate Authorities) to issue certificates for that domain, according to RFC 6844 .

CAA records declare the domain owner’s preferred CA, which eliminates the risk of false CA's from issuing fake certificates. CAA records must be created before application for certificates is made. CAA records can be customized to specify wild card domains and receive emails when CAs find certificate policy violations.

Constellix DNS offers management of many different record types including:

Domain Notifications

Constellix provides you with an option to receive notifications for a wide variety of events.
Let your team know of outages as soon as they happen. Create contact groups for different roles, departments, or schedules.

✓ Receive a notification when your domain changes
✓ Receive a notification when failover occurs
✓ Overcome communication barriers and set alerts for specific team members for specific changes

These notifications will greatly reduce the risk of a team member missing out on crucial information.

Domain Tagging

domain dns

Categorize your domain properties with tags for quick retrieval and modifications. These tags are searchable with Advanced Search

HTTP Redirection Records

HTTP Redirection Records are special in that they are a combination of an A record and an application server. This means the application server looks up the destination URL of the A record in a database.

This way you can configure your redirections without having to use special configurations on the web server.

All you have to do is map a FQDN so that the web traffic is passed to powerful application servers; and a 301, 302; or a frame masked HTTP redirection can be completed.

Real-Time Logging

This feature allows you to see your domain's live query traffic through one of our points of presence for a minute long period. Watch queries in real time on an interactive map or in raw tabular form.

Real-Time Statistics

date range

Real-Time Stats (RTS) allow you to analyze your domain’s incoming query traffic in real time.

Aggregate and/or filter query data by:
✓ Domain
✓ Resource Record
✓ LocationTime Frame

Secondary DNS

Constellix only offers Primary/Primary Secondary DNS through API integrations with Google Cloud DNS, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Route 53. If you require Secondary DNS with another provider, or a Primary/Secondary configuration, we recommend using our other product DNS Made Easy .

Why Secondary DNS?
Secondary DNS has become increasingly popular after recent attacks on major DNS providers. This features allows you to use multiple DNS providers at once to maintain uptime. Query traffic is distributed to both providers, so two networks are authoritative for your domains. If your primary provider becomes unavailable, your query traffic will automatically be served by your secondary provider with virtually no effects to end-users. This adds an extra layer of redundancy and can ensure uptime even if one provider is downed.

Recent studies have shown that using multiple providers can actually improve DNS resolution times and improve domain performance. Resolving name servers favor whichever provider is performing better, and will deliver the majority of the query load to those name servers.

Cloud Provider Secondary DNS Integrations
Instantly import your domains from another provider or use Secondary DNS to automatically update your records across both providers. We currently offer integrations with the following providers:
✓ DNS Made Easy
✓ Google Cloud DNS
✓ Amazon Route 53
✓ Microsoft Azure

Security Audit with Tracking

Full security audit history to see who made changes, from where, and when. Each user's actions are tracked with timestamp and IP address of the change.

Sonar Monitoring Integrations

Constellix is the only traffic management suite to be fully integrated with a monitoring solution. Use the reports and analytics from Sonar to make instantly propagated changes to your DNS infrastructure.

Current available integrations are:
Enhanced DNS Failover
ITO pools

Sub-User Permissions

 export activity log

Multi-user access with the ability to specify individual permissions per domain or service (DNS and Sonar). Includes a full security audit to track the changes per user.

Templates

pre-designed dns templates

Your time is valuable, so why waste it? We designed Templates to cut down on the time it takes to configure large groups of domains.

Create a template of records and rules (like GeoDNS or Failover) and apply it to multiple domains. Everytime you update the template, it'll automatically update all domains the template was previously applied to.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Double up your security with multi factor authentication (2FA). When you log into any of the Constellix control panels (DNS, Sonar, Management, Billing) you will be prompted to enter your username, password, and authentication key. You can enable 2FA through the Management Console .

Vanity DNS

Vanity nameserver

Rebrand the Constellix name servers to your own name. Simply replace the root NS records and SOA record for your domain. This way your own domain name becomes the host name for your name servers, which map back to IP addresses of Constellix name servers.

You can also rebrand secondary DNS name servers or email servers using the same strategy. Vanity DNS services are included with all accounts for free.

Vanity DNS with Dedicated IP

You can also add a dedicated IP address to your Vanity DNS services. That means you get your very own assigned and dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 address for your name server.

One time set up fee: $125.00
Monthly Fee: $25.00

Version Control with Rollback

No longer do you have to worry about making changes to your configurations and wondering how to restore the previous version. Constellix is revolutionary in that it gives you full version control capabilities. We allow you to restore up to 100 previous versions of your configurations.

Another critical feature that you will be able to take advantage of is creating a snapshot of 10 different versions of your domain. You can keep these forever and restore to a specific version to recover any configuration that you have had previously.
